Rachelle's Story about starting IWCY Clay Club.
As far as starting up the club. I was having a really sad, down, depressed time
(this was before finding out about my illness). I was in the depths of
depression. There didn't seem to be any way out of it. Then while I listened to
MOAM.....and IWCY played.....it made me burst into tears!!! I felt the love and
support from Clay while listening to the song. I put that song on repeat over
and over and over again. I listened to it for 2 days straight. It "Carried and
Lifted" me out of a very dark place!!! Then it came to mind that I wanted to
continue to "Carry" Clay as he had done for me. I had carried him in my own
little ways before that.....but because I was housebound and so limited I had
felt I wasn't much help to Clay. But the more I thought about it I could "Carry"
Clay in my own way. I was home all the time so I could vote in polls day and
night and request Clay's music......to make up for those with limited time due
to jobs and families!!!! I could be the CB "cheerleader" and try to keep
everything positive there!!!!
I realized we can all "Carry" Clay in different ways. Some vote in polls. Some
buy his cds, book, dvd, magazines, merchandise. Some go to 1 concert. Some go to
multiple concerts. Some take and share Clack. Some give dvds and cds and clack
to others. Some tell everyone that will listen about Clay. Some pray for him.
Some call in to radio stations to request they play him. Some do one thing. Some
go to show support & love wherever Clay makes appearances. Some do multiple
things. Some do all of the above. We as his fans can all "Carry" Clay in our own
special way.....and we are all just as good a fan as the others in doing what we
can do. No matter how big or small. So, I posted my feelings and
thoughts.....and that I pledged to always "Carry" Clay in any way I can. I asked
anyone else who promised to "Carry" Clay also, to join my "IWCY Clay Club.
Was I shocked when almost 1,000 members joined and pledged to always "Carry"
Clay!!!!!
Starting the club was the best thing I felt I ever did to "Carry" Clay. I am so
happy that you are continuing it. I would like to be a part of it since it is my
baby and so special to me. I would love to do a Club pin with the "I Will Carry
You, Clay" pledge written on it just like on the button I designed.....along
with another pin or pins from your contest.
I hope what I wrote about starting the Club made sense and helped you understand
better what it was started for. It was born out of my deep love for Clay and my
deep thanks for his "carrying" me whenever I need it. The club being resurrected
is once again "carrying" me thru a very scary, dark place right now. I pledge to
continue to "Carry" Clay as much as I can for as long as I can!!!
